Farberware Skillet

If you want a skillet that is versatile and durable, then your best choice is a Farberware 12 inch skillet. You can use the Farberware 12 inch skillet to grill, broil, and cook in the oven or on the top of the stove. Cooking with the Farberware 12 inch skillet is also a very healthy way to prepare food, as it is made from cast iron which is particularly good for people with an iron deficiency, and because there is no chance of a non stick surface flaking off and getting in your food, as often happens with Teflon coated kitchen utensils.  I love the flavor of pancakes or eggs cooked on my Farberware 12 inch skillet, as well as sausages done in the oven or grilled in the skillet. Delicious food every time, with the Farberware 12 inch skillet!

The Farberware 12 inch skillet cannot be machine washed, and needs to be hand washed with a stiff brush in hot soapy water.  If there is any food stuck on the Farberware 12 inch skillet, just soak it in water for 5 minutes and then food will be quite easy to remove.

To season the Farberware 12 inch skillet for the first time, you need to place it in the oven for 1-1/2 – 2 hours, at a temperature of about 350 degrees.  After each wash, you need to re-season the Farberware 12 inch skillet which is quite easy to do.  First of all, heat up the Farberware 12 inch skillet to dry up any surface water and then put a coat of oil on the inside surface.  It is best to use a type of oil that can work at high temperatures, such as coconut or safflower when you re-season the Farberware 12 inch skillet  Afterwards, just gently wipe out the Farberware 12 inch skillet with some kitchen paper and then you can store it.

My overall opinion is that the Farberware 12 inch skillet is an excellent cast iron skillet, although not quite as good as the Teflon skillets I have used in the past.  However, I would always choose the Farberware 12 inch skillet over a non stick skillet because of the health benefits of cooking in cast iron and to avoid flakes of non stick coating finding their way into my food!
